I am excited to be a part of all that is going on at Grace Christian School. God is doing amazing things in the hearts and minds of our staff and students. It is a privilege to serve the students and families of Grace by teaching math in the Junior High Department. I am also looking forward to another year serving as JH Director for the 2018-2019 school year. My greatest desire has been to teach in an atmosphere where I could impact students both academically and spiritually. Jesus means the world to me and I hope that is evident in all that I say and do. We are going to have a great year together!
Teaching is my second career. My first was raising my three kids, Erin, Megan, and Brian. I used to call myself a "professional volunteer" as I could always be found working in the childrens' programs at Bellflower Brethren Church or assisting teachers at my children's elementary school. When my oldest child went off to college, I decided to complete my dream of becoming a teacher so I headed off to college myself. In 2011, I graduated with my bachelor's degree and teaching credential from California State University, Long Beach. After substitute teaching at various public schools and Grace Christian School, I am happy to finally be fulfilling the purpose that God has given me as a teacher at GCS. The 2018-2019 school year will be my seventh year teaching with Grace Christian.
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Bob, for 35 years. We love to travel to new places together. Last year we explored Bali, Indonesia. As I type this, we are finalizing plans for a long awaited trip to the United Kingdom. Bob loves math, Junior Highers, and Jesus so he is a fabulous support to me.
My oldest daughter, Erin, graduated from Biola and is married to Lucas, a Bible teacher at another Christian school. They have two sweet little boys who call me Gramma, Josiah and Elijah, as well as a new grandbaby on the way - due in December. I love seeing them grow and taking them on adventures.
My daughter Megan graduated from Biola University and completed her masters in Art Administration. She works at the Irvine Fine Arts Center. It's fun to see her new skills as she takes on different classes; currently she is amazing me with the things she can make with a little bit of clay and a potter's wheel.
My son Brian is finishing up his degree in mathematics from Southern New Hampshire University. He loves all things computer and geek, so life is always interesting around him. It doesn't hurt that he works at the Happiest Place on Earth, so I can get my Disney fix now and then for free!
I love spending time with my family, reading, scrapbooking, quilting, going to museums, and walking on the beach. Lately we have been spending a lot of weekends at our cabin in Big Bear that my husband has been going to since he was a little boy. We love hiking and being out in God's great creation.
I am grateful to God for bringing me to Grace to minister to you and your children.
